CollabRelating Journal

The CollabRelating Journal offers a number of relationship strategies that you can take from written word and put directly into practice. Most of my counseling clients and students would agree that I believe the world and our relationships give us continual experiments in which to try new ways of being. Meaning, rather than think about our relationships and how we are going to change them in the abstract, we can make change in real time – or in counselor speak “in the here and now”. If your goal is to reduce the distress you experience in your relationships or to improve them in general, I offer the CollabRelating journal as a resource.

Humanistic Therapy

Humanistic therapy, also known as humanism, is a form of talk therapy that focuses on a person’s individual nature, rather than assuming that groups of people with similar characteristics have the same concerns. Humanistic therapists aim to consider the whole person, especially their positive characteristics and potential for growth, not only from their professional viewpoint but from a client’s own personal sense of their behavior. The emphasis in sessions is on a person’s positive traits and behaviors and developing their ability to use their instincts to find wisdom, growth, healing, and fulfillment.

Although it’s normal to argue or have disagreements in any relationship, psychologists have pinpointed four common communication habits – known as the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse – that can increase the likelihood of divorce or breakups. Let’s dive in and discuss the Four Horsemen in detail.

Family Systems Therapy

Our family is an integral part of our lives. They have been with us through thick and thin, and it is where we learn our values, beliefs, and behaviors. However, sometimes our family relationships can be challenging, and it can be difficult to find a way forward. That’s where family systems therapy comes in. Family systems therapy is a form of psychotherapy that provides a holistic approach to understanding family dynamics and improving relationships. In this blog post, we will delve into what family systems therapy is, how it came about, and why it is essential.
